Herb Van Note
I started playing drums at age eleven.I played to records such as Beatles, Roll Stones, Allman Brothers, Creedance Clear water revival. In 1973 I had played in some High School Rock bands on and off playing mostly late Sixties and early Seventies Rock. In 1979 I joined the Fast Forward band. The band played R& B and Rock. The band played the Jersey Shore Nite Club circuit. In 1980 I wanted to play some heavyer rock so I joined the Holidays band. The band played Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Foreigner. The band only lasted about a year due to the death of the lead singer from a fatal car accident. Then in 1981 I got a call from the lead guitarist from the holidays band to join the Group called Distractions. This was a top forty band that was fronted by a femal vocalist. We played U2, Pertenders, Devo, Billy Idol what ever was played currently on the radio. The band played local clubs in the shore area also some clubs up in north Jersey. The Lead singer had drop out of the band in 1982. So the remainder of the band stayed together and started Four on the Floor.A four piece two guitars bass & drums an all original band. Our music sounded like across of REM and The Smithereens. In 1986 we put out a five song Ep. The band played in the clubs around Jersey that hosted original music. By 1989 the band broke up. I had stop playing for awhile until John Strevens who wrote the songs and played Guitar & vocals for Four on the Floor had given me a call to do a solo project.I had played with John on his solo projects and recorded two Cd's together over the next few years. In 2001 I played in a three piece Jazz & blues band called Beyond Blues. We played Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Hendricks. We played in some clubs in Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, and also some clubs in North Jersey. In the summer of 2005 I had Auditoned for the Country band After the Reign and still currently playing with the band.
